i. birth
feel the dirt beneath your claws
kit, you are borne from the light of the day,
the dandelions of the meadow,
the sweet juice of berries pouring from your maw
stay wild, dear child,
stay strange
ii. rebirth
you stood to two feet, one day.
you frowned at your newly born hands,
flexed their pruned fingers.
you felt the water which clung to your bare torso
your legs, your feet
"how strange a wreck" you spoke to the sea
"how strong a man" the sea sung back
you cloaked yourself in skins and cloth
and in the brine of the sea
christened yourself buttercup
